When Calvin Gilmore opened the theater in 1986, the idea of a variety show was unheard of. Several years and many successes later, a number of corporations have followed Gilmore¹s model and opened theaters of their own. Now in its 28th season, the critically acclaimed Carolina Opry boasts nearly 8,000 performances and has been running longer than any show in Broadway history. Calvin Gilmore¹s successes in the area of theater have put Myrtle Beach on the map as an entertainment destination and brought a national spotlight to the Grand Strand.

Hello friends of Hawthorne Tours

It is with a heavy heart that I have made the decision to close Hawthorne Tours. The effects of COVID-19 have had a truly devastating effect on many businesses, but for those of us in hospitality, the recovery will be a very long road.

I feel so fortunate to have worked in an industry that showcases the beauty and history of this great country. And, mostly, I feel so fortunate to have made friendships that will last a lifetime.

I am grateful to everyone who made this business a success for so many years. My amazing office staff, all of the terrific tour guides and tour managers, and all of our wonderful vendors representing hotel, motorcoaches, restaurants and attractions, all of whom work to make all the components of a tour come together in a seamless fashion, THANK YOU.

THANK YOU to all of our AMAZING CLIENTS who put their trust in my company for so many years. It has been an honor to work with all of you over the past 27 years. I will miss you.

Going forward, I have partnered with New England Coach, 17 Freetown Road, Raymond, New Hampshire for any future travel. You can expect the same friendly service and attention to detail that you have always received from Hawthorne Tours. Please email: Samantha@newenglandcoach.com or call them at 603-895-3000. They will be ready to serve you!

Take care and stay well! The travel industry will eagerly wait your return!
